Event Details

This 8 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction class is based on the widely studied mindfulness training curriculum developed by Dr. Jon Kabat Zinn, author of Full Catastrophe Living and professor at the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine.  Over the 8 weeks emphasis will be on initiating, cultivating, and deepening non-judgemental awareness of experience in the present moment. 

Participants will be introduced to a range of mindfulness practices and practice-based resources with the guidance of Dr. Kim van Walsum, C.Psych., a clinical health psychologist who completed MBSR training with Dr. Jon Kabat Zinn and Dr. Saki Santorelli.  Dr. van Walsum is a fellow practitioner of mindfulness meditation.  She is passionate about mind-body health and has taught MBSR to gulf war veterans, pediatric patients and their families, adults with chronic pain, nurses, eating disorder specialists, and many others. She holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University, completed her residency in Behavioral Health at University of Texas at Austin, and has been on faculty with the Texas A&M College of Medicine.

All sessions will take place online, and will require a computer and high speed internet connection.  Access codes to participate online will be emailed following payment of course registration fee.
